The  Book  of  Solomon
(ALMA XX  to  HELAMAN II)

PHRASEOLOGY  LISTING  BY PAGE

New Basis for Spalding Theory (1980)  |  Secular & Sacred (1982)  |  Sciotia Revisited (1983)  |  Links

Note 1: Due to the topical sorting by which the following Spalding/Book of Solomon phraseology parallels
were compiled, some word-strings were applied to the text more than once. As the same process was used
in locating and counting the word-strings on all the pages examined, this double (somtimes triple) counting
of the parallels is not considered to have been a serious flaw in the tabulation of the pages' relative values.
However, it is recommended that surplus word-strings be eliminated in any future parallels re-tabulation.

Note 2: A tabulated list of the word-string counts for the 73 examined pages can be seen here.

the sons of ALMA did go forth among the people
according to the spirit of prophecy and revelation
an account of the wars between the NEPHITES
And now I return to an account of the wars between the Nephites
therefore they made preparations for war
in the commencement of the eighteenth year
now, as the AMALEKITES were of a more wicked and
were of a more wicked and murderous disposition
Now this he did that he might preserve their hatred
that he might bring them into subjection to the

and also that he might gain power over the NEPHITES
this he did that he might usurp great power over them
and also that he might gain power over the NEPHITES
And now the design of the NEPHITES was to support
that they might preserve their rights and their privileges
they might preserve them from the hands of their enemies
that they might worship God according to their desires
that they might preserve them from the hands
that they might preserve their rights
that they might worship God according to their desires
they knew that if they should fall into the hands of the LAMANITES
they knew that if they should fall into the hands of the LAMANITES
if they should fall into the hands of the LAMANITES, that
therefore, if they should fall into the hands of the LAMANITES
therefore, if they should fall into the hands of the LAMANITES
and they would not take up arms, yea
therefore, if they should fall into the hands of the LAMANITES
they had entered into a covenant and they would not
that they should be destroyed; therefore they gave
the NEPHITES were compelled, alone, to withstand
were compelled, alone, to withstand against the LAMANITES
and the descendants of the priests of NOAH
give unto the NEPHITES a large portion of their substance
the NEPHITES were obliged to contend with their brethren
those descendants were as numerous, nearly, as were the NEPHITES
Now the chief captain took the command of all
the NEPHITES were prepared to meet them
as the armies of the LAMANITES had gathered
behold, the armies of the NEPHITES were prepared
the command of all the armies of the NEPHITES
appointed to be the chief captain over the NEPHITES
Now the chief captain took the command of all the armies
captain took the command of all the armies
command of all the armies of the NEPHITES
took the command of all the armies of the NEPHITES
the leader of the NEPHITES, or the man who had been appointed
the leader of the NEPHITES, or the man who had been appointed
chief captain over the armies of the NEPHITES
he was appointed chief captain over the armies
And when the armies of the LAMANITES saw that

Now the army of ZERAHEMNAH was not prepared
they had only their swords and their cimeters
they had only... their bows and their arrows
were exceedingly afraid of the armies of the NEPHITES
suppose that the armies of MORONI would know
away by the head of the River SIDON
come into the land of MANTI and take possession of the land
that they might come into the land
for they did not suppose that the armies of MORONI would know
MORONI would know whither they had gone
whither the armies of the NEPHITES should go
should go to defend themselves against the LAMANITES
and the descendants of the priests of NOAH
desiring him that he should inquire of the Lord
as soon as they had departed into the wilderness
sent certain men unto him, desiring him that he should inquire
MORONI... sent... unto him, desiring him that he should inquire
the armies of the NEPHITES, or of MORONI, returned
attack upon the weaker part of the people
the armies of the LAMANITES were marching
they might commence an attack upon the weaker part
messengers went and delivered the message unto MORONI
that they might come over into the land of MANTI
that they might commence an attack upon the weaker
took the remaining part of his army
took the remaining part of his army
MORONI... took the remaining part of his army and marched
come into that land and take possession of the city
MORONI, leaving a part of his army... marched over
lest by any means a part of the LAMANITES should come into that land
leaving a part of his army in the land
MORONI, leaving a part of his army in the land
took the remaining part of his army and marched
took the remaining part of his army and marched
defend their lands and their country, their rights and their liberties
to defend their lands and their country, their rights and their liberties
to defend their lands and their country, their rights
to defend their lands and their country
prepared against the time of the coming of the LAMANITES
MORONI caused that his army should be secreted in the

which was near the bank of the River SIDON
which was on the west of the River SIDON in the wilderness
he might know when the camp of the LAMANITES should come
that he might know when the camp of the LAMANITES
it was their intention to destroy their brethren
that it was their intention to destroy their brethren
they might establish a kingdom unto themselves over all the land
concealed them on the east, and on the south of the Hill RIPLAH
he divided his army and brought a part over
the west valley, on the west of the River SIDON
in the west valley, on the west of the River SIDON
the remainder he concealed in the west valley
according to his desire, he was prepared to meet them
having placed his army according to his desire
the hill, where a part of the army of MORONI was concealed
the LAMANITES came up on the north of the hill
the army which was concealed on the south of the hill
the LAMANITES... began to cross the River SIDON
encircled the LAMANITES about on the east in their rear
he led his army forth and encircled the LAMANITES about
led by a man whose name was LEHI
and he led his army forth and encircled the LAMANITES
and began to contend with the army of LEHI
the NEPHITES coming upon them in their rear
blows of the NEPHITES with their swords
but it was more dreadful on the part of the LAMANITES
but it was more dreadful on the part of the LAMANITES
but it was more dreadful on the part of the LAMANITES
a man fell... by their swords and the loss of blood
even until they began to flee towards the River SIDON

that they should not cross
And LEHI retained his armies upon the bank
MORONI and his army met the LAMANITES in the valley
and they were met again by the armies of MORONI
LAMANITES did flee again before them, towards the
the LAMANITES did flee again before them, towards the land of MANTI
LAMANITES... fight with such exceedingly great strength and courage
to fight with such exceedingly great strength and courage
fight with such exceedingly great strength and courage
to fight with such exceedingly great strength
ZERAHEMNAH, who was their chief... leader and commander
ZERAHEMNAH, who was their chief captain
yea, they did fight like dragons
and many of the NEPHITES were slain by their hands
and they did pierce many of their breastplates
their wives and their children, and their all
inspired by a better cause, for they were not fighting
they were fighting for their homes and their liberties
Inasmuch as ye are not guilty of the first offense
Inasmuch as ye are not guilty of the first offense
defend themselves... their country, and their rights, and their religion
contending... to defend themselves... and their rights
to defend... their country, and their rights
they were about to shrink and flee from them
sent forth and inspired their hearts with these thoughts
and they cried with one voice unto the Lord

and they fled even to the waters of SIDON
LAMANITES began to flee before them; and they
more than double the number of the NEPHITES
the LAMANITES were more numerous, yea, by more than double
Therefore the armies of MORONI encircled them
encircled them about, yea, even on both sides of the river
the armies of MORONI encircled them... on both sides of the river
Therefore the armies of MORONI encircled them about
and the armies of MORONI on the west of the River
armies of MORONI on the west of the River SIDON
men of LEHI on the east of the River SIDON
they were struck with terror
that they were encircled about by the NEPHITES
men of LEHI on the east of the River SIDON
armies of MORONI on the west of the River SIDON
that they should stop shedding their blood
MORONI... commanded his men that they should stop
that we do not desire to be men of blood
ye are in our hands, yet we do not desire to slay you
not come out to battle against you that we might shed your blood
neither do we desire to bring any one to the yoke of bondage
except we should fall into transgression and deny our faith
will the Lord suffer that we shall be destroyed
by that liberty which binds us to our lands and our country
God, who has strengthened our arms
support which we owe to our wives and our children

deliver up your weapons of war unto us
we will seek not your blood, but we will spare your lives, if ye
death in your bodies, that ye may become extinct
ZERAHEMNAH ... he came forth and delivered up his sword
ZERAHEMNAH ... raised his sword
ZERAHEMNAH ... raised his sword
we will retain our swords, and we will perish or conquer
when ZERAHEMNAH had heard these sayings he came forth
and suffer that we may depart into the wilderness
here are our weapons of war; we will deliver them up
take our weapons of war, and suffer that we may depart
saying:Behold, we will end the conflict
Behold, we will end the conflict
when ZERAHEMNAH had made an end of speaking
ZERAHEMNAH retained his sword
but as he raised his sword, behold
and he rushed forward that he might slay MORONI
he rushed forward that he might slay MORONI
And now when MORONI had said these words
withdrew from before them into the midst of his soldiers
laid it upon the point of his sword

saying unto them with a loud voice
deliver up your weapons of war and depart with a covenant
they... came forth and threw down their weapons of war
they... were struck with fear
came forth and threw down their weapons of war at the feet of MORONI
many came forth and threw down their weapons of war
and entered into a covenant of peace
And as many as entered into a covenant they suffered to depart
as many... they suffered to depart into the wilderness
he did stir up the remainder of his soldiers to anger
he did stir up the remainder of his soldiers to anger
that they should fall upon them
the LAMANITES did contend with their swords
he commanded his people that they should fall upon them
did fall exceedingly fast before the swords of the NEPHITES
if they would spare the remainder of their lives
if they would spare the remainder of their lives
if they would spare the remainder of their lives, that
the work of death should cease again among the people
and after they had entered into a covenant with him
after they... were suffered to depart into the wilderness
Now the number of their dead was not numbered
yea, the number of their dead was exceedingly great
cast their dead into the waters of SIDON... and are buried
cast their dead into the waters of SIDON... and are buried
that the armies of the LAMANITES were marching
armies... returned and came to their houses and their lands
And thus ended the record of ALMA

the record of HELAMAN, which he kept in his days
the record of HELAMAN, which he kept in his days
according to the record of HELAMAN, which he kept
Chapter XXI The account of the people of NEPHI, and their wars
again delivered them out of the hands of their enemies
and they did worship God with exceedingly great joy
the people of NEPHI were exceedingly rejoiced
and they did worship God with exceedingly great joy
I spake unto thee concerning those records which have been kept
I spake unto thee concerning those records which have been kept
Believest thou in JESUS CHRIST, who shall come
I perceive... according to the spirit of revelation which is
in four hundred years from the time that
until the people of NEPHI shall become extinct
shall no more be numbered among the people
pursue even until they shall become extinct
whosoever... is not destroyed in that great and dreadful day
whosoever... is not destroyed in that great and dreadful day

Cursed shall be the land, yea, this land, unto every nation
when ALMA had said these words he blessed the church
when ALMA had done this he departed out of the land
buried by the hand of the Lord
and we suppose that he has also received ALMA in the spirit
HELAMAN went forth among the people to declare
in the commencement of the nineteenth year
disturbances which had been among the people
that the word of God should be declared
disturbances which had been among the people
in every city throughout all the land which was
yea, in every city throughout all the land
they did appoint priests... over all the churches
in every city throughout all the land
appoint priests and teachers throughout all the land

give heed to the words of HELAMAN
that as many as would not hearken to the words of
hearken to the words of HELAMAN and his brethren
insomuch that they were determined to slay them
the leader of those who were wroth... was a large and a strong man
the greater part of them, the lower judges
because of the greatness of the number of his people
people who were wroth were also desirous that he should be their king
AMALICKIAH was desirous to be a king
And they had been led by the
for they were high priests over the church
their deliverance by the hand of the Lord
their great victory which they had had over the LAMANITES
because of their deliverance by the hand of the Lord
can cause to take place among the children of men
had sent upon the face of the land
yea, and to seek to destroy the church of God
and to seek... to destroy the foundation of liberty
chief commander of the armies of the NEPHITES
MORONI, who was the chief commander of the armies
MORONI, who was the chief commander of the armies

and our peace, our wives and our children
a band of Christians remain to possess the land
MORONI prayed that the cause of the Christians
therefore, at this time, MORONI prayed that the cause
when he had poured out his soul to God, he named
shall be trodden down and destroyed
he went forth among the people, waving the rent part
and crying with a loud voice, saying: "Behold
And when MORONI had said these words, he went forth
a covenant that they will maintain their rights, and their religion
if they should transgress the commandments of God
when MORONI had proclaimed these words, behold
they should transgress the commandments

cast our garments at thy feet to be trodden under
We covenant with our God, that we shall be destroyed
and they cast their garments at the feet of MORONI
he may cast us at the feet of our enemies
let us remember to keep the commandments of God
my son be preserved by the hand of God
while the remainder of the seed of JOSEPH shall perish
while the remainder of the seed of JOSEPH shall perish
the seed of my son be preserved by the hand of God
Yea, let us preserve our liberty as a remnant of JOSEPH
if we do not stand fast in the faith of CHRIST
all the people who were desirous to maintain their liberty
and also sent forth in all the parts of the land
that when MORONI had said these words he went forth
all the people who were desirous to maintain their liberty
MORONI... sent forth in all the parts of the land
fearing that he should not gain the point
doubtful concerning the justice of the cause in which they had
the people of MORONI were more numerous than the AMALICKIAHITES
he thought to cut off the people of AMALICKIAH

AMALICKIAH would do that he might obtain his purposes
and cause them to come to battle against them
he took his army and marched out with his tents into the wilderness
he took his army and marched out with his tents
it was expedient that he should take his armies
and entered into a covenant to keep the peace
and marched... to cut off the course of AMALICKIAH
marched... and headed the armies of AMALICKIAH
the remainder were delivered up into the hands of MORONI
the remainder were delivered up into the hands of MORONI
AMALICKIAH fled with a small number of his men
AMALICKIAH fled with a small number... the remainder were
according to his will with the armies of the NEPHITES
power... to establish and to exercise authority over them
enter into a covenant to support the cause of freedom
that they might maintain a free government
MORONI planted the Standard of Liberty
thus they did maintain peace in the land
and thus they did maintain peace in the land
in the church, yea, even for the space of four years
And HELAMAN and the high priests
had prepared to remove the cause of diseases
God had prepared to remove the cause of diseases
which at some seasons of the year were very frequent
because of the excellent qualities of the many plants
to which men were subject by the nature of the climate
and those who died in the faith of CHRIST

that they should gather themselves together
for, behold, he had taken those who went with him
the more part of them would not obey
would not obey the commandments of the king
against the NEPHITES lest they should lose their lives
part of them would not obey the commandments of the king
he gave AMALICKIAH the command of that part of his army
commanded him that he should go forth
(King AMALICKIAH 's) ... army which was obedient unto his commands
the command of that part of his army
gave AMALICKIAH the command of that part of his army
the king... commanded him that he should go forth
therefore they fled to... the place of arms
he had got the command of those parts of the LAMANITES
supposing that they were coming to destroy them
now he had got the command of those parts of the LAMANITES
went forward to the place which was called ONIDAH
being fixed in their minds with a determined resolution
being fixed in their minds with a determined resolution
the people of NEPHI exceedingly precarious and dangerous
the top of the mount which was called ANTIPAS
to gain favor with the armies of the LAMANITES
that he might place himself at their head and dethrone
dethrone the king and take possession of the kingdom
that he might place himself at their head
give them battle according to the commandments of the king
give them battle according to the commandments of the king
Now it was not AMALICKIAH's intention to give them battle
it was his intention to gain favor with the armies
he caused his army to pitch their tents in the valley
he caused his army to pitch their tents in the valley

desiring that the leader of those... whose name was LEHONTI
that when LEHONTI received the message he durst not go
a second leader over the whole army
to come down with his army in the night-time
come down with his army in the night-time
AMALICKIAH desired him to come down with his army
when LEHONTI had come down with his guards to
they were surrounded by the armies of LEHONTI
they were surrounded by the armies of LEHONTI
LEHONTI came down with his men and surrounded the men of AMALICKIAH
with their brethren, that they might not be destroyed
that he might accomplish his designs in dethroning
AMALICKIAH to be their leader and their chief commander
AMALICKIAH marched with his armies
to the city of NEPHI, which was the chief city
AMALICKIAH marched with his armies
AMALICKIAH marched with his armies

as was the custom with the LAMANITES, as a token of peace
the king put forth his hand to raise them
which custom they had taken from the NEPHITES
AMALICKIAH commanded that his armies should march forth
when he had raised the first from the ground, behold
Now the servants of the king fled
and they have fled; behold, come and see
Behold, the servants of the king have stabbed him
they... found the king lying in his gore
AMALICKIAH commanded that his armies should march
when they had come to the spot, and found the king
and pursued after the servants of the king
Now when the servants of the king saw
which pursued after them returned, having pursued after them
AMALICKIAH, by his fraud, gained the hearts of the people
he entered the city... and took possession of the city
he entered the city NEPHI with his armies
he entered the city NEPHI with his armies
and they had made their escape
he had pursued them with his army, but it was in vain
sent an embassy to the Queen informing her that the King had
and they had made their escape
that he had pursued them with his army
that he had pursued them with his army
that he had pursued them with his army, but it was
but it was in vain, and they had made their escape
that he had pursued them with his army
when she had heard that the king was slain
when the Queen had received this message she sent unto AMALICKIAH
with him to testify concerning the death of the king
when the Queen had received this message she sent unto
desired him that he should come
she sent unto AMALICKIAH, desiring... him that he should
also desired him that he should bring
and she also desired him that he should bring witnesses

They have fled; does not this testify against them?
went in unto the Queen, unto the place where she sat
they satisfied the Queen concerning the death of the king
he was acknowledged king throughout all the land
and all the dissenters of the NEPHITES
among all the people of the LAMANITES
and by the assistance of his cunning servants, he obtained
among all the people of the LAMANITES, who were
and all the dissenters of the NEPHITES
they became ... more wild, wicked, and ferocious than the
these dissenters... instructed in the same knowledge of the Lord
as soon as AMALICKIAH had obtained the kingdom
and all the people who were in the land
into an eternal world, unprepared to meet their God
hardened the hearts of the LAMANITES and blinded their minds
hardened the hearts of the LAMANITES and blinded their minds
he had accomplished his design, for he had hardened
he was determined...to overpower the NEPHITES
he appointed them to be chief captains over his armies
and moved forth toward the land of ZARAHEMLA

had been preparing the minds of the people
he had been strengthening the armies of the NEPHITES
strengthening the armies of the NEPHITES, and erecting small forts
throwing up banks of earth 'round about to enclose his armies
and also building walls of stone to encircle them
banks of earth 'round about to enclose his armies
they were prepared for them, in a manner
Now they were prepared for the LAMANITES
Now they were prepared for the LAMANITES
he did fortify and strengthen the land which was possessed by the NEPHITES
was called by their enemies the cause of Christians
their wives and their children, and their peace
they might maintain that which was called by their enemies
that they might live unto the Lord
that they might maintain that which was called
did joy in the liberty and the freedom of his country
a man whose soul did joy in the liberty and the freedom
labor exceedingly for the welfare and safety of his people
did labor exceedingly for the welfare and safety of his people
a man whose heart did swell with thanksgiving
he had sworn with an oath to defend his people, his rights
he was a man who was firm in the faith of CHRIST
were taught to defend themselves against their enemies
warn them to flee, or to prepare for war
warn them to flee, or to prepare for war
to prepare for war, according to their danger
were faithful in keeping the commandments of God
they should go to defend themselves against their enemies
yea, in keeping the commandments of God

ALMA and his sons, for they were all men of God
they were free from wars and contentions among themselves
themselves, yea, even for the space of four years
they were compelled reluctantly to contend with their
their wars never did cease for the space of many years
they were sorry to take up arms against the LAMANITES
into an eternal world, unprepared to meet their God
the means of sending so many of their brethren out of this world
their children should be massacred by the barbarous cruelty
that their wives and their children should be massacred
children should be massacred by the barbarous
they could not suffer to lay down their lives
had gone to destroy them by joining the LAMANITES
if they should keep his commandments they should prosper
brethren should rejoice over the blood of the NEPHITES
any who should keep the commandments of God
the armies of the LAMANITES were seen approaching
on the tenth day of the month, the armies
LAMANITES were seen approaching towards the land of AMMONIHAH
the LAMANITES were seen approaching towards the land of AMMONIHAH
that the city of AMMONIHAH had been rebuilt

could not cast their stones and their arrows at them
the Nephites had dug up a ridge of earth round about them
But behold, how great was their disappointment
their arrows at them that they might take effect
great was their disappointment; for behold, the NEPHITES
at this time the chief captains of the LAMANITES were astonished
that they should be privileged to come
Now the leaders of the LAMANITES had supposed, because of the
they had also prepared themselves with garments of skins
that they should easily overpower and subject
or slay and massacre them according to their pleasure
slay and massacre them according to their pleasure
slay and massacre them according to their pleasure
astonished at their manner of preparation for war
And... were exceedingly astonished at their manner
attacked the NEPHITES at the city of AMMONIHAH
AMALICKIAH had come... at the head of his army
caused the LAMANITES to have attacked the NEPHITES
caused the LAMANITES to have attacked the NEPHITES
attacked the NEPHITES at the city of AMMONIHAH
at the head of his army
out of the land of NEPHI, at the head of his army
his chief captains durst not attack the NEPHITES
attack the NEPHITES at the city of AMMONIHAH
his chief captains durst not attack the NEPHITES
not attack the NEPHITES at the city of AMMONIHAH
took their camp and marched towards the land of NOAH
they retreated... and marched towards the Land of NOAH
they... took their camp and marched towards the land of NOAH
Therefore they retreated into the wilderness
MORONI had fortified, or had built forts of security, for every city
to the land of NOAH with a firm determination
they marched forward to the land of NOAH with a
they knew not that MORONI ... built forts of security, for every
the valley on the east of the River SIDON

their chief captains came forward and took an oath
the city of NOAH, which had hitherto been
had hitherto been the weakest part of the land
and as the city of NOAH had hitherto been the weakest
in the valley on the east of the River SIDON
appointed LEHI to be chief captain over the men
their chief captains had sworn with an oath
sworn with an oath to attack the city
chief captains had sworn with an oath to attack the city
when the LAMANITES had found that LEHI commanded
the LAMANITES could not get into their forts of security
the highness of the bank which had been thrown up
the depth of the ditch which had been dug
to destroy all such as should attempt to climb up to enter
should attempt to climb up to enter the fort
thus were the NEPHITES prepared to destroy all such
such as should attempt to climb up to enter the fort
to smite down all who should attempt to come into their place
were they prepared to defend themselves against the LAMANITES
and thus were they prepared to defend themselves
they were prepared... with their swords
all who should attempt to come into their place of security
they were slain with an immense slaughter
insomuch that they were slain with an immense slaughter
might have an equal chance to fight
filled up in a measure with their dead and wounded bodies
that they might obtain a pass to their armies
the stones and arrows which were thrown at them
Now when they found that they could not obtain power
they began to dig down their banks of earth that they might
that they might obtain a pass to their armies
by pulling down the banks of earth
that they might have an equal chance to fight
banks of earth... filled... with their dead and wounded bodies

until their chief captains were all slain
the LAMANITES did attempt to destroy the NEPHITES
and more than a thousand of the LAMANITES were slain
and more than a thousand of the LAMANITES were slain
the LAMANITES did attempt to destroy the NEPHITES
here was not a single soul of the NEPHITES which was slain
exposed to the arrows of the LAMANITES through the pass
when the LAMANITES saw... they fled into the wilderness
saw that their chief captains were all slain
they returned to the land of NEPHI, to inform their king
because MORONI had kept the commandments of God
in delivering them from the hands of their enemies
and sent forth to preach among the people
and by all those who had been ordained
continual peace among them, and exceedingly great prosperity
yea, and by all those who had been ordained
and sent forth to preach among the people
that they should commence in digging
MORONI did not stop making preparations for war
that they should commence in digging up heaps of earth
that they should commence in digging up heaps
he caused that his armies should commence in the
for he caused that his armies should commence
in the commencement of the twentieth year

about all the cities, throughout all the land
upon the top of these ridges of earth he caused that there
he caused that there should be... works of timbers built
And upon the top of these ridges of earth... should be timbers
yea, works of timbers built up to the height of a man
and slay him who should attempt to approach near the walls
slay him who should attempt to approach
who should attempt to approach near the walls of the city
according to their pleasure and their strength
prepare strongholds against the coming of their enemies
prepare strongholds against the coming of their enemies
who were in the east wilderness into their own lands
MORONI caused that his armies should go forth into the
he caused that the inhabitants who were in the land
when MORONI had driven all the LAMANITES out
secure their armies and their people from the hands of their enemies
that they might secure their armies and their people from the
that they might secure their armies
and caused them to erect fortifications that they might
running by the head of the River SIDON
he cut off all the strongholds of the LAMANITES
he cut off all the strongholds of the LAMANITES
possessing all the land... according to their pleasure
And thus he cut off all the strongholds of the LAMANITES
did seek to cut off the strength and the power of the LAMANITES
MORONI, with his armies, which did increase daily
Thus MORONI, with his armies... did seek to cut off the
seek to cut off the strength and the power of the LAMANITES

that they should have no power upon the lands
between the city of MORONI and the city of AARON
in the commencement of the twenty and first year
even at this time, which he spake unto LEHI
merciful and just are all the dealings of the Lord
merciful and just are all the dealings of the Lord
they shall be cut off from the presence of the Lord
brought upon them their wars and their destructions
or to perish by the sword... and mingle with the LAMANITES
were faithful in keeping the commandments of the Lord
perish by the sword... and mingle with the LAMANITES
never was a happier time among the people of NEPHI
even at this time, in the twenty and first year

for a contention which took place among them
would also have been peace among the people of NEPHI
in the commencement of the twenty and fourth year
people of MORIANTON took up arms against their brethren
and they were determined by the sword to slay them
people who possessed the land of LEHI fled to the camp of MORONI
the people who possessed the land of LEHI fled to the camp of MORONI
they were exceedingly fearful lest the army of MORONI should come
the people of LEHI had fled to the camp of MORONI
the people of LEHI had fled to the camp of MORONI
MORONI should come upon them and destroy them
fearful lest the army of MORONI should come upon them
led by a man whose name was MORIANTON
that they should flee to the land which was northward
flee to the land... and take possession of the land
the land which was northward, which was covered with
they would have carried this plan into effect
they would have carried this plan into effect... but behold
that she fled... over to the camp of MORONI
she fled, and came over to the camp of MORONI
serious consequences among the people of NEPHI
Now behold, the people who were in the land
that they would hearken to the words of MORIANTON
the narrow pass which led by the sea
they did not head them until they had come to the borders
by the narrow pass which led by the sea into the land northward
did not head them until they had come to the borders

TEANCUM... returned to the camp of MORONI
TEANCUM... took them prisoners, and returned to the camp of MORONI
led by a man whose name was TEANCUM
TEANCUM did slay MORIANTON and defeat his army
and a union took place between them and the people of LEHI
the people of NEPHI had peace restored unto them
refused ALMA to take possession of those records
yea, to support and maintain the cause of God
to support and maintain the cause of God all his days
yea, to support and maintain the cause of God
to bring the wicked to justice according to their crime
and having commenced the twenty and fifth year in peace
in the commencement of the twenty and fifth year
Nevertheless, they did not long maintain an entire peace
they did not long maintain an entire peace in the land

there began to be a contention among the people
Therefore, those who were desirous that the law should be altered
for they were desirous that the law should be altered
those who were desirous that PAHORAN should be dethroned
for they were desirous that the law should be altered in a manner
to maintain their rights and the privileges of their religion
to maintain their rights and the privileges of their religion
those who were desirous that PAHORAN should remain
but were obliged to maintain the cause of freedom
they durst not oppose but were obliged to maintain the cause
they durst not oppose but were obliged to maintain the cause of freedom
among the brethren of PAHORAN and also many of the people
such contentions to be among the people of NEPHI
against the people of the NEPHITES
and arming them, and preparing for war
he had sworn to drink the blood of MORONI
he did prepare himself and his armies
he did prepare himself and his armies to come to battle
who had been slain by the hand of the NEPHITES
because of the many thousands who had been slain
Now his armies were not so great as they had hitherto been

Yea, even AMALICKIAH did himself come down
and it was at the same time that they had begun to settle
AMALICKIAH did himself come down, at the head of the LAMANITES
did himself come down, at the head of the LAMANITES
would not take up arms to defend their country
refused to take up arms, for they were so wroth with the chief
when the men ... had heard that the LAMANITES were
and they refused to take up arms, for they were so wroth
that they would not take up arms to defend their country
to compel those dissenters to defend their country or
put an end to such contentions and dissensions among the people
to such contentions and dissensions among the people
this had been hitherto a cause of all their destruction
this had been hitherto a cause of all their destruction
his had been hitherto a cause of all their destruction
it was granted according to the voice of the people
take up arms and support the cause of liberty
or they should take up arms and support the cause
or they should take up arms and support the cause
pull down their pride... and level them with the earth
MORONI commanded that his army should go against
that the armies did march forth against them
leaders who were not slain in battle were taken
there was no time for their trials at this period
and to take up arms in defence of their country
and to take up arms in defence of their country
the remainder of those dissenters, rather than be smitten down
yielded to the Standard of Liberty
those dissenters... were compelled to hoist the Title
in their cities, and to take up arms in defence of their country
And the remainder of those dissenters... yielded to the

those people who professed the blood of nobility
breaking down the wars and contentions among his own people
and making regulations to prepare for war
AMALICKIAH took possession of the city, yea
were not sufficiently strong in the city of MORONI
Amalickiah took... possession of all their fortifications
those who fled... came to the city of NEPHIHAH
and were ready to receive the LAMANITES to battle
And those who fled out of the city of MORONI came to
made preparations and were ready to receive the LAMANITES
fled out of the city of MORONI came to the city of NEPHIHAH
the people of the city of LEHI gathered
leaving men in every city to maintain and defend it
leaving men in every city to maintain and defend
to go against the city of NEPHIHAH to battle
the city of NEPHIHAH, and the city of LEHI
and the city of MORIANTON, and the city of OMNER
and the city of GID, and the city of MULEK
obtained, by the cunning of AMALICKIAH, so many cities
driving the NEPHITES before them and slaying many
it came to pass that they were met by TEANCUM
that he might take possession of the land BOUNTIFUL
as he was marching forth with his numerous army
that he might take possession of the land BOUNTIFUL
exceed the LAMANITES in their strength and in their skill of war
exceed the LAMANITES in their strength and in their skill of war
repulsed by TEANCUM and his men, for they were great warriors

insomuch that they did gain advantage over the LAMANITES
TEANCUM and his men did pitch their tents in the borders
TEANCUM... went into the camp of AMALICKIAH
fatigue, which was caused by the labors and heat of the day
that when the night had come, TEANCUM and his
and he did cause the death of the king immediately
And he returned again privily to his own camp
And he returned again privily to his own camp
lest the LAMANITES had awakened and should come upon them
he caused that his armies should stand in readiness
And he caused that his armies should stand in readiness
MORONI commanded... his army... should march forth
TEANCUM was ready to give them battle on that day
to wait for the coming of MORONI
retreated with all their army into the city of MULEK

those cities, which they had taken by the shedding of blood
he should attempt to attack them in their forts
not expedient that he should attempt to attack them in their forts
the LAMANITES were determined to maintain those cities
should attempt to attack them in their forts
that he should attempt to attack them in their forts
determined to maintain those cities which they had taken, and
he was preparing to defend himself against them
round about, as if making preparations for war; yea
sent a large number of men to strengthen his army
he should retain all the prisoners of the LAMANITES
orders unto him that he should retain
retain all the prisoners of the LAMANITES
retain all the prisoners who fell into his hands for as
retain all the prisoners of the LAMANITES as a
MORONI also sent orders unto him that he should retain
for as the LAMANITES had taken many prisoners
a ransom for those whom the LAMANITES had taken
sent orders unto him that he should fortify the land BOUNTIFUL
orders unto him that he should fortify
have power to harass them on every side
and secure the narrow pass which led into the land northward
lest the LAMANITES should obtain that point
he also sent orders unto him that he should fortify
and that he also would fortify and strengthen the cities
which had not fallen into the hands of the LAMANITES
those cities which had been taken out of their hands
the cities round about, which had not fallen into the hands of the
he would seek every opportunity to scourge
MORONI also sent unto him, desiring him that he would be
known unto the Queen concerning the death of his brother
that they should also harass the NEPHITES
left to possess the cities which he had taken
he was endeavoring... to draw away a part of their forces
commanded those whom he had left to possess the cities

and should take possession of their lands as much as
in their power, according to the power of their armies
that TEANCUM, by the command of MORONI
and had begun his march towards the land BOUNTIFUL
he did march forth with a large army, even towards the city of BOUNTIFUL
that he might assist TEANCUM with his men
orders to make an attack upon the city of MULEK
TEANCUM had received orders to make an attack upon the city
saw that it was impossible that he could overpower them
those who would not deliver up their swords
preparations to make an attack upon the city of MULEK
and march forth with his army against the LAMANITES
TEANCUM made preparations to make an attack upon the city
he abandoned his designs and returned again to the city
that he might receive strength to his army
march forth with his army against the LAMANITES
that he might receive strength to his army
MORONI did arrive with his army at the land of BOUNTIFUL
MORONI did arrive with his army at the land
MORONI did arrive with his army at the land
and many of the chief captains held a council
advantage over them and take again the city of MULEK
that they might gain advantage over them
that they might by some means flatter them
that they might gain advantage over them
that they might gain advantage over them
in the commencement of the twenty and eighth year
they sent embassies to the army of the LAMANITES
with his army to meet them upon the plains
to meet them upon the plains between the two cities
which protected the city of MULEK
would not come out with his army to meet them
he would come out with his armies to meet them
would not come out with his army to meet them
he would come out with his armies to meet them
to meet them upon the plains between the two cities
they sent... to their leader... desiring him that he would
that he might decoy the LAMANITES out of their
MORONI and his army, by night, marched

they ran and told it unto JACOB, their leader
when the guards of the LAMANITES had discovered TEANCUM
the LAMANITES coming out against him he began to retreat
he began to retreat down by the seashore
that the armies of the LAMANITES did march forth
TEANCUM saw the armies of the LAMANITES coming out
they took courage and pursued them with vigor
And while TEANCUM was thus leading away the LAMANITES
they took courage and pursued them with vigor
they took courage and pursued them with vigor
and pursued them with vigor
MORONI commanded that a part of his army who were
MORONI commanded that a part of his army who
slew all those who had been left to protect the city
slew all those who had been left to protect the city
slew all those who had been left to protect the city
he marched with the remainder to meet
he marched with the remainder to meet the LAMANITES
he marched with the remainder to meet the LAMANITES
they should return from the pursuit of TEANCUM
he marched with the remainder to meet the LAMANITES
MORONI had obtained... MULEK with a part of his army
MORONI... with a part of his army while he marched
with a part of his army, while he marched
a small army, which had been left to protect
and then they were met by LEHI and a small army
a small army, which had been left to protect the city
the LAMANITES ... they fled in much confusion
the chief captains of the LAMANITES had beheld
had beheld LEHI with his army coming against them
lest perhaps they should not obtain the city MULEK
overtake them; for they were wearied because of their march
beheld LEHI with his army coming against them
when the chief captains of the LAMANITES had beheld LEHI
MORONI had been in their rear with his army
MORONI had been in their rear with his army
MORONI had been in their rear with his army
till they should meet MORONI and his army
LEHI was not desirous to overtake them till they should meet
they were surrounded... by the men of MORONI
they beheld that they were surrounded by the NEPHITES
that they should fall upon them
MORONI commanded his men that they should fall upon them
they should fall upon them until they had given up their weapons
fall upon them until they had given up their weapons
to battle with exceeding fury against MORONI
MORONI being in their course of march, therefore JACOB was

JACOB was determined to slay them and cut his way through
cut his way through to the city of MULEK
they fought on both hands with exceeding fury
MORONI was wounded and JACOB was killed
the remainder of them, being much confused, knew not whither
pressed upon their rear with such fury... that
LEHI pressed upon their rear with such fury
and the remainder of them... knew not whither to go
chief captains... threw down their weapons of war
that they should do the same
their chief captains, all those who were not slain
chief captains... threw down their weapons of war at the feet of MORONI
that when the LAMANITES had heard these words
they were compelled to march with their brethren
they were compelled to march with their brethren
they were compelled to march with their brethren
and their weapons of war were taken from them
And now the number of prisoners who were taken
the number of those who had been slain
more than the number of those who had been slain
who were taken exceeded more than the number of
yea, more than those who had been slain on both sides
yea, more than those who had been slain
did set guards over the prisoners of the LAMANITES
compel them to go forth and bury their dead
compel them to go forth and bury their dead, yea
the dead of the NEPHITES who were slain
MORONI... took command of the city and gave it unto LEHI
and also beloved by all the people of NEPHI
And MORONI went to the city of MULEK
they were beloved by each other, and also beloved by
and they rejoiced in each other's safety
beloved by each other, and also beloved by all the people
that they should commence laboring in digging
the LAMANITES had finished burying their dead
the LAMANITES had finished burying their dead
TEANCUM, by the orders of MORONI, caused that they should
that they should commence laboring in digging a ditch
that they should build a breastwork of timbers

they did cause the LAMANITES to labor until they had encircled
they had encircled the city of BOUNTIFUL
until they had encircled the city of BOUNTIFUL 'round about
cause the LAMANITES to labor until they had encircled the city
they did guard the prisoners of the LAMANITES
he desired all his forces when he should make an attack
he desired... he should make an attack upon the LAMANITES
he desired all his forces when he should make an attack
one of the greatest of the armies of the LAMANITES
MORONI had thus gained a victory over... the LAMANITES
MORONI had thus gained a victory over... the LAMANITES
had obtained possession of the city of MULEK
their women and their children from famine and affliction
attempt a battle with the LAMANITES in that
the armies of the LAMANITES, on the west sea
obtained possession of a number of their cities
to have fallen into the hands of their brethren
an oath that they never would shed blood
they had been kept from taking up arms against their brethren
suffered themselves to have fallen into the hands of their
against their brethren; for they had taken an oath
and according to their oath they would have perished

desirous to take up arms in the defence of their country
desirous to take up arms in the defence of their country
were desirous to take up arms in the defence of their country
desirous to take up arms in the defence of their country
take up arms, in the defence of their country
moved with compassion and were desirous to take up arms
for they were about to break the oath which they had made
those who... were compelled to behold
in their dangerous circumstances at this time
HELAMAN feared lest by so doing they should lose their souls
those who had entered into this covenant were compelled
to defend themselves against their enemies; therefore
as many as were able to take up arms, and they called
assemble... as many as were able to take up arms, and
they did assemble themselves together at this time
they had many sons, who had not entered into a covenant
together at this time, as many as were able to take up arms
they entered into a covenant to fight for the liberty
took their weapons of war to defend their country
thousand of those young men, who entered... took their weapons
those young men, who entered into this covenant
now at this period of time also a great support
became now at this period of time also a great support
valiant for courage, and also for strength and activity
they had been taught to keep the commandments of God
HELAMAN did march at the head of his two thousand

in the commencement of the twenty and ninth year of the
for the support of his own people
for the strengthening of his army
his own people for the strengthening of his army
nor a child among all the prisoners of MORONI
Now the LAMANITES had taken many women and children
to obtain as many prisoners of the NEPHITES
or the prisoners whom MORONI had taken
ye are still determined to carry on after his death
withdraw your armies into your own lands
withdraw your armies into your own lands
and return with your armies to your own lands
fought against the people of the Lord
And now behold, we are prepared to receive you

maintain our religion and the cause of our God
it supposeth me that I talk to you concerning
if this be the case that ye will do it
it supposeth me that thou art a child of Hell
you are destroyed from off the face of the Earth
and I will follow you even into your own land
and I will follow you even into your own land
AMMORON, when he had received this epistle, was angry
AMMORON, when he had received this epistle, was angry
Behold, I will avenge his blood upon you
my people shall lay down their weapons
if ye will lay down your arms, and subject yourselves
I cause that my people shall lay down their weapons
to our authority or to their eternal extinction

to maintain and to obtain their rights to the government
war hath been waged to avenge their wrongs
this war hath been waged to avenge their wrongs
when MORONI had received this epistle he was more angry
AMMORON knew that it was not a just cause
AMMORON had a perfect knowledge of his fraud
when MORONI had received this epistle he was more angry
when the LAMANITES awoke in the morning they beheld that
I know the place where the LAMANITES do guard
when MORONI had said these words, he caused that
and he was one of the servants of the king
NEPHITES were guarded in the city of GID
and caused that a small number of men should go with him
they received him with joy

made them more desirous to drink of the wine
this was according to the design of MORONI
as many as were able to use a weapon of war
those things were done in a profound silence
when MORONI had armed all those prisoners
as many as were able to use a weapon of war
he would not fall upon the LAMANITES and destroy them
he delighted in the saving of his people from destruction
he had armed those prisoners of the NEPHITES
and surround the armies of the LAMANITES
now behold this was done in the night-time
that they should fight with the NEPHITES
that they should fight... demanded
it was not expedient that they should fight
their chief captains demanded their weapons
chief captains... cast them at the feet of the NEPHITES

and they did join the army of MORONI
He took them prisoners of war, and took possession
join the army of MORONI, and were a great strength to his army
He took them prisoners of war, and took possession of the city
and were a great strength to his army
and caused that all the prisoners should be liberated
that they should commence a labor in strengthening
did cause the LAMANITES, whom he had taken prisoners
that they should commence a labor in strengthening
that when he had fortified the city GID, according to
notwithstanding all the intrigues of the LAMANITES
all the ground and the advantage which they had
notwithstanding all the intrigues of the LAMANITES
keep and protect all the prisoners whom they had taken
notwithstanding all the intrigues of the LAMANITES
to be victorious, and to reclaim their rights and their privileges
to be victorious, and to reclaim their rights and their privileges
LAMANITES attempt to encircle them about by night
And many times did they attempt to administer
that they might destroy them with poison
that they might destroy them with poison
that they might destroy them with poison
They could not be taken in their snares
preparations to attack the city MORIANTON
for MORONI to make preparations to attack the city

in the commencement of the thirtieth year
My dearly beloved brother, MORONI
concerning our warfare in this part of the land
LAMAN, who was the eldest son of our father
LAMAN, who was the eldest son of our father LEHI
that these were descendants of LAMAN
and we have come forth to defend our country
it sufficeth me that I tell you that
these young men have taken their weapons of war
and would that I should be their leader
they would not take up their weapons of war against their brethren to shed blood
that they should break this covenant which they had made
God would strengthen us, insomuch that we should not suffer
fulfilling the oath which they had taken
HELAMAN did march at the head of these two thousand
two thousand young men, to the city of JUDEA
here is one thing in which we may have great joy
I did join my two thousand sons... to the army of ANTIPUS
their forces had slain a vast number of our men
his army had been reduced by the LAMANITES
they have died in the cause of their country
they have died in the cause of their country
they have died in the cause of their country and of their God
many prisoners, all of whom are chief captains

And we suppose that they are now at this time in the land
And we suppose that they are now at this time in the land
And we suppose that they are now at this time
by the shedding of the blood of so many of our valiant men
have obtained possession... of so many of our valiant men
the city of MANTI, and the city of ZEEZROM
and the city of CUMENI, and the city of ANTIPARAH
they possessed when I arrived at the city of JUDEA
I arrived at the city of JUDEA
when I arrived at the city of JUDEA
toiling with their might to fortify the city
I arrived at the city of JUDEA
they were determined to conquer in this place or die
suppose that this little force which I brought with me
they were compelled by the orders of AMMORON to not
not come against the city of JUDEA
they were compelled by the orders of AMMORON to not come
ANTIPUS had received a greater strength to his army
They were commanded by AMMORON
They were commanded by AMMORON to maintain those cities
AMMORON to maintain those cities which they had taken
in the commencement of the twenty and seventh year
we were not desirous to make an attack upon them
we were desirous that the LAMANITES should come upon us
for we were not desirous to make an attack upon them
nor by day to make an attack upon our other cities
that they might not pass us by night nor by day
bring them up in the rear at the same time they were met
if they should pass by us, to fall upon them in their rear
to fall upon them in their rear, and thus bring them
at the same time they were met in the front
therefore we were desirous, if they should pass by us
They durst not pass by us with their whole army
lest they should not be sufficiently strong and they should fall
march down against the city of ZARAHEMLA
cross the head of SIDON, over to the city of NEPHIHAH

with their forces, they were determined to maintain those cities
And thus, with their forces, they were determined to
they were determined to maintain those cities
determined to maintain those cities which they had taken
and also for their wives and their children
And thus we were prepared with ten thousand men
they began to be fearful, and began to sally forth
ANTIPUS ordered that I should march forth
ANTIPUS ordered that I should march forth with my little
we were desirous to bring a stratagem into effect
we were desirous to bring a stratagem into effect upon them
ANTIPUS ordered that I should march forth
we were desirous to bring a stratagem into effect upon them
And we were to march near the city of ANTIPARAH
were to march near the city of ANTIPARAH
leaving the remainder to maintain the city
ANTIPUS did march forth... leaving the remainder to
ANTIPUS did march forth... leaving the remainder to
leaving the remainder to maintain the city
ANTIPUS did march forth with a part of his army
march forth with a part of his army
ANTIPUS did march forth with a part of his army
they had been informed by their spies
when they had been informed by their spies
that we did flee before them, northward
insomuch that when they saw the army of ANTIPUS
that they might not be surrounded by our people
they did not turn to the right nor to the left
the army of Antipus pursuing them, with their might
that they might not be surrounded by our people
ANTIPUS, beholding our danger, did speed the march of his army
ANTIPUS... did speed the march of his army
ANTIPUS... did speed the march of his army

my little sons should fall into their hands
that my little sons should fall into their hands
and we took our march into the wilderness
and they would make their escape; and thus we did flee
and they would make their escape; and thus we did flee
should overtake me, and we could not stand against them, but be slain
they durst not turn to the right nor to the left
turn to the right nor to the left lest they should be surrounded
neither would I turn to the right nor to the left
nor to the left lest they should overtake me
LAMANITES upon us, and we did flee before them
and it was in the morning of the third day of the seventh month
but they have halted for the purpose that we should come
whether they were overtaken by ANTIPUS we knew not
that they might catch us in their snare
let us go, lest they should overpower the army of ANTIPUS
let us go, lest they should overpower the army of ANTIPUS
for they were all of them very young
the armies of ANTIPUS had overtaken them
the armies of ANTIPUS had overtaken them
overtaken them, and a terrible battle had commenced
The army of ANTIPUS... were about to fall into the hands
were about to fall into the hands of the LAMANITES
in so short a space of time
The army ... were about to fall into the hands of the LAMANITES
weariness, which was occasioned by the speed of their march
weariness, which was occasioned by the speed of their march
For ANTIPUS had fallen by the sword
For ANTIPUS had fallen by the sword

that the whole army of the LAMANITES halted
the LAMANITES took courage, and began to pursue them
the LAMANITES took courage, and began to pursue them
the LAMANITES pursuing them with great vigor
the LAMANITES pursuing them with great vigor
and also themselves as prisoners of war
that they were compelled to deliver up
deliver up their weapons of war and also themselves as prisoners
that when they had surrendered themselves up unto us
when they had surrendered themselves up unto us
deliver themselves up as prisoners of war
never were men known to have fought with such miraculous strength
to my great joy, there had not one soul of them fallen
there had not one soul of them fallen to the earth
to keep them from the armies of the LAMANITES
took our march back to the city of JUDEA
and the remainder I took and joined them to my stripling
deliver up those prisoners of war whom we had taken
At length their provisions did arrive
deliver up those prisoners of war whom we had taken
he would deliver up the city of ANTIPARAH
to take the city of ANTIPARAH by our force
and they abandoned their design in marching into the land
we were sure our forces were sufficient to take
preparations to go against the city of ANTIPARAH
ANTIPARAH did leave the city, and fled to their other cities
their other cities, which they had possession of, to fortify them
and thus the city of ANTIPARAH fell

ANTIPARAH fell into our hands
and we had also plenty of provisions brought unto us
join their brethren, my little band of two thousand
join their brethren, my little band of two thousand
and also an addition to our army
in the commencement of the twenty and ninth year
a battle with the army which was placed
a battle with the army which was placed
it was our desire to wage a battle with the army
they were still determined to maintain the city
after this manner, they were still determined to maintain the city
the LAMANITES being cut off from their support
we had accomplished our designs in obtaining the city
we were obliged to employ all our force
our prisoners were so numerous that, notwithstanding
after they had surrendered themselves prisoners of war
for us, that we should put an end to their lives

notwithstanding that which we had taken from the
matter to determine concerning these prisoners of war
we selected a part of our men, and gave them charge
they returned in season to save us from falling into their hands
the LAMANITES were upon us, and they returned in season to save us
those men whom we sent... did arrive in season to check them
my little band of two thousand and sixty
my little band of two thousand and sixty
as the remainder of our army were about to give way
the remainder of our army were about to give way
as the remainder of our army were about to give way
And as the remainder of our army were about to give way
the remainder of our army were about to give way
they said unto me that their mothers had taught them
and even according to their faith it was done unto them
they were driven back to the city of MANTI
and those men who had been selected to convey the prisoners
and were not all destroyed by the sword
and caused that their wounds should be dressed
sixty, who had fainted because of the loss of blood
among them who had not received many wounds
according to the goodness of God... not one soul of them
there was not one soul of them who did perish
that they should be spared while there was

that they should be preserved by his marvelous power
there was a thousand of our brethren who were slain
while there was a thousand of our brethren who were slain
that they should be preserved by his marvelous power
they are young, and their minds are firm
and had buried our dead and also the dead of the...
GID was the chief captain over the band
the spies... sent out to watch the camp of the LAMANITES
Behold, the armies of the LAMANITES are marching
the LAMANITES are marching towards the city of CUMENI
the LAMANITES are marching towards the city
the armies of the LAMANITES are marching towards the city
the LAMANITES are marching towards the city of CUMENI
the remainder of them broke through and fled from us
the remainder of them broke through and fled
in the which, the greater number of them were slain
and the remainder of them broke through and fled from us
our march with speed towards the city
we took our march with speed towards the city CUMENI
we took our march with speed towards the city CUMENI
we took our march with speed towards the city CUMENI
the LAMANITES are marching towards the city of CUMENI
when they had fled and we could not overtake them
when I, HELAMAN, had heard these words of GID
who have been slain have entered into the rest of their God
Yea, even to a considerable distance, insomuch that

our next object was to obtain the city of MANTI
our next object was to obtain the city of MANTI
that we could lead them out of the city by our small bands
lead them out of the city by our small bands
we durst not go forth and attack them in their strongholds
they were so much more numerous than was our army
they were so much more numerous than was our army
the LAMANITES were also receiving great strength from
were our circumstances at this period of time
thus were our circumstances at this period of time
And the LAMANITES were sallying forth against us
food, which was guarded to us by an army of two thousand men
from falling into the hands of our enemies
defend ourselves and our country from falling into the hands
to defend... from falling into the hands of our enemies
come upon our land, to our overthrow and utter destruction
the cause of these our embarrassments, or the cause why
and did cause us that we should hope
and did cause us that we should hope for our
cause us that we should hope for our deliverance in Him

fixed with a determination to conquer our enemies
and were fixed with a determination to conquer our enemies
to maintain our lands... and the cause of our liberty
our possessions, and our wives and our children
with our small force which we had received
the LAMANITES, who were in the city of MANTI
might discover the number and the strength of our army
might discover the number and the strength of our army
that they might discover the number and the strength
they were making preparations to come out against us
GID, with a small number of men, should secrete himself
I remained, with the remainder of my army
men were on the right and the others on the left
in that same place where we had first pitched our tents
I remained, with the remainder of my army
and when they had thus secreted themselves, behold
we had first pitched our tents against the time that
And when they had come and were about to fall
the LAMANITES did follow after us with great speed
the LAMANITES did follow after us with great speed
desirous to overtake us that they might slay us
that they were not discovered by the LAMANITES
desirous to overtake us that they might slay us
with great speed, for they were exceedingly desirous to overtake
and we did pass by in the midst of GID and TEOMNER
they were exceedingly desirous to overtake us
when the LAMANITES had passed by, or when the army had
and did cut off the spies of the LAMANITES

that they should not return to the city
they did destroy them and did take possession of the city
they ran to the city and fell upon the guards
they did destroy them and did take possession
fell upon the guards who were left to guard the city
that when they had cut them off
the LAMANITES did suffer their whole army... to be led away
traveled much in the wilderness towards the land of ZARAHEMLA
TEOMNER by this means had obtained possession
they were marching towards the land of ZARAHEMLA
they were marching towards the land of ZARAHEMLA
therefore they began to retreat into the wilderness again
therefore they began to retreat into the wilderness again
for the chief captains of the LAMANITES had supposed
they had driven their whole army therefore they took no
they took no thought concerning the city of MANTI
and they did pitch their tents, for the chief captains
I caused that my men... that they should march forward
men should not sleep, but that they should march forward
but that they should march forward
they should march forward by another way towards the land of MANTI
I caused... that they should march... towards the land of MANTI
insomuch that we did arrive before them at the city of MANTI
arrive before them at the city of MANTI
because of this our march in the night-time
we did arrive before them at the city of MANTI
by this stratagem we did take possession of the city
possession of the city of MANTI without the shedding of blood
we did take possession of the city of MANTI
when the armies of the LAMANITES did arrive near
and saw that we were prepared to meet them
struck with great fear, insomuch that they did flee
that the armies of the LAMANITES did flee out
And those cities which had been taken by the LAMANITES
are at this period of time in our possession
all of them are at this period of time in our possession
to maintain so great a number of cities

if so, we do not desire to murmur
there is some faction in the government
we know that they are more numerous than that which
the LAMANITES have fled to the land of NEPHI
kept them from falling by the sword
are with me in the city of MANTI
But behold, they have received many wounds
after MORONI had received... HELAMAN's epistle...he immediately sent
he was exceedingly rejoiced because of the welfare

that they might rejoice also
to strengthen HELAMAN, or the armies of HELAMAN
he immediately sent an epistle to PAHORAN
that he might with ease maintain that part of the land
that he might obtain the remainder of those possessions
that he might obtain the remainder of those possessions
and cities which the LAMANITES had taken from them
to lay a plan that he might obtain the remainder of those
when MORONI had sent this epistle to the land of ZARAHEMLA
was thus making preparations to go against the LAMANITES
gathered together from the city of MORONI
and the city of LEHI and the city of MORIANTON
the remainder of the people of NEPHIHAH were obliged to flee
joined the LAMANITES in this part of the land
even those who had been compelled to flee
Yea, even those who had been compelled to flee
by the command of AMMORON they came forth
to slay them with an exceedingly great slaughter
they did begin to slay them with an exceedingly great slaughter
and they came even and joined the army of MORONI
people of NEPHIHAH were obliged to flee before them
the remainder of the people of NEPHIHAH were obliged to flee
the people of NEPHIHAH were obliged to flee
their armies were so numerous that the remainder of the people
keep the city from falling into the hands of the LAMANITES
men sent to the city NEPHIHAH
to keep the city from falling into the hands of the LAMANITES
MORONI had supposed that there should be men sent
sent to the city of NEPHIHAH, to the assistance of the people
they should not fall into the hands of their brethren
when MORONI saw that the city of NEPHIHAH was lost
whether they should not fall into the hands of their brethren
this was the case with all his chief captains
Now this was the case with all his chief captains

pAHORAN, in the city of ZARAHEMLA, who is the chief
gather together men, and arm them with swords
yea, thousands have fallen by the sword
rendered unto our armies sufficient strength and succor
great has been the slaughter among our people
we desire to know the cause of your thoughtless state
we desire to know the cause of this exceedingly great neglect
we desire to know the cause of this exceedingly great neglect
we desire to know the cause of your thoughtless state
your enemies are spreading the work of death
saved thousands of them from falling by the sword
desires which they had for the welfare of this people
their great desires which they had for the welfare of this people
for the welfare and the freedom of this people
more diligently for the welfare and the freedom of this people
the blood of thousands shall come upon your heads
blood of thousands shall come upon your heads for vengeance
the blood of thousands shall come upon your heads for vengeance

there are many who have fallen by the sword
because so many of your brethren have been killed
ye need not suppose that the righteous are lost
yea, even the slothfulness of our government
For were it not for the wickedness... we could
which was the cause of so much bloodshed among ourselves
had they been true to the cause of our freedom
instead of taking up their swords against us
yea, were it not for these king-men... we should have
have been done, according to the fulfilling of His word
at the time we were contending among ourselves
that they should suffer all manner of afflictions
neglected us because ye are in the heart of our country
because ye are in the heart of our country
because ye are in the heart of our country

and ye are surrounded by security, that ye do not
Have ye forgotten the commandments of the Lord
who are falling by the sword, yea, wounded and bleeding
falling by the sword, yea, wounded and bleeding
yea, even the great head of our government
support those parts of our country which he has regained
also recover the remainder of our possessions in these parts
also recover the remainder of our possessions
and strive to strengthen and fortify our armies
I will leave the strength and the blessings of God upon them
to usurp power and authority shall become extinct
I do take my sword to defend the cause of my country
I do take my sword to defend the cause of my country
I do take my sword to defend the cause of my country
I do take my sword to defend the cause
bestir yourselves in the defence of your country
bestir yourselves in the defence of your country
bestir yourselves in the defence of your country and your little ones

the progress of this people in the cause of our freedom
power to impede the progress of this people
while your iniquity is for the cause of your love of glory
constrained, according to the covenant which I have made
I have made to keep the commandments of my God
I am MORONI, your chief captain
and the freedom and welfare of my country
unto MORONI, the chief captain over the army

and those who have risen up are exceedingly numerous
that have been the cause of this great iniquity
that have been the cause of this great iniquity
which will be the cause of sore affliction among us
and I have fled to the land of GIDEON
sent a proclamation throughout this part of the land
they are flocking... in the defence of their country
to their arms, in the defence of their country and their freedom
in the defence of their country and their freedom
to their arms, in the defence of their country and their freedom
they are flocking to us ... to avenge our wrongs
they are flocking to us... and to avenge our wrongs
their arms, in the defence of their country and
and he shall be placed king over this people
he hath joined an alliance with him
enable the LAMANITES to conquer the remainder of the land
he hath agreed to maintain the city of ZARAHEMLA
he hath agreed to maintain the city of ZARAHEMLA
enable the LAMANITES to conquer the remainder of the land
that I may preserve the rights and the liberty of my people
We would not shed the blood of the LAMANITES
We would not shed the blood of the LAMANITES
if they would stay in their own land
We would not shed the blood of our brethren
We would not shed the blood of our brethren
or if he should command us so to do
command us that we shall subject ourselves

rejoice... in the cause of our Redeemer
come... and leave the remainder in the charge of LEHI
give unto them power to conduct the war in that part of the land
give unto them... according to the Spirit of God
will go speedily... according to the faith which is in us
And we will take possession of the city of ZARAHEMLA
we will take possession of the city of ZARAHEMLA
when MORONI had received this epistle his heart did take
a traitor to the freedom and cause of his country
traitor to the freedom and cause of his country
and was filled with exceedingly great joy because
when MORONI had received this epistle his heart did
was filled with exceedingly great joy because of the
those who had rebelled against their country and also their God
gave LEHI and TEANCUM command over the remainder of his army
TEANCUM command over the remainder of his army
command over the remainder of his army
TEANCUM command over the remainder of his army
took a small number of men, according to the desire of PAHORAN

MORONI... took his march towards the land of GIDEON
MORONI... took his march towards the land of GIDEON
whatsoever force he could in all his march towards the land of GIDEON
he did raise the Standard of Liberty
force he could in all his march towards the land of GIDEON
did take up their swords in the defence of their freedom
and did take up their swords in the defence
did take up their swords in the defence of their freedom
he should attempt to attack them in their forts
take up their swords in the defence of their freedom, that
that they might not come into bondage
pACHUS, who was the king of those dissenters
the men of Pachus... had taken possession of the land
he came ... uniting his forces with those of PAHORAN
out of the land of ZARAHEMLA and had taken possession
when MORONI had gathered together whatsoever
would not take up arms in the defence of their country
whosoever would not take up arms in the defence of their country
would not take up arms in the defence of their country
would not take up arms in the defence of their country
whosoever would not take up arms in the defence of their country
and also those king-men who had been taken
pACHUS received their trial, according to the law
and they were executed according to the law
be strictly observed for the safety of their country
their freedom was speedily executed according to the law
all those who were not true to the cause of freedom
pAHORAN having restored peace to the land of ZARAHEMLA
an army of six thousand men should be sent unto HELAMAN
in the commencement of the thirty and first year
that an army of six thousand men... be sent to the armies of LEHI
food should be sent to the armies of LEHI
this was done to fortify the land against the LAMANITES
an army of six thousand men, with a sufficient quantity of food
took their march with a large body of men towards the land of NEPHIHAH
took their march with a large body of men
pAHORAN... took their march... towards the land of NEPHIHAH
being determined to overthrow the LAMANITES in that city

pAHORAN, leaving a large body of men... took their march
their provisions and their weapons of war
that as they were marching towards the land
as they were marching towards the land
as they were marching towards the land
after they had taken them, they caused them
and they were in number about four thousand
And when they had entered into this covenant
when they had entered into this covenant they sent them
they pursued their march towards the land of NEPHIHAH
did pitch their tents in the plains of NEPHIHAH
in the plains of NEPHIHAH, which is near the city
they pursued their march towards the land of NEPHIHAH
when they had come... they did pitch their tents in the plains
they had come to the city of NEPHIHAH
when they had sent them away they pursued their march
which is near the city of NEPHIHAH
when they had come to the city of NEPHIHAH
come out to battle against them, upon the plains
and beholding the greatness of their numbers
the LAMANITES, knowing... and beholding the greatness
MORONI was desirous that the LAMANITES should come out
MORONI went forth in the darkness of the night
And when the night came, MORONI went forth
the wall into the inner part of the wall
that they should prepare in haste strong cords
And now MORONI returned to his army
and caused that they should prepare in haste strong cords
MORONI caused that his men should march forth
they were all within the walls of the city
that the armies of MORONI were within the walls
he did cause that his men should march forth
he did cause that his men should march forth against them
his men should march... and slew many, and surrounded many
and the remainder of them fled into the land of MORONI
and the remainder of them fled into the land of MORONI

and there were many of the LAMANITES who were slain
obtained the possession of the city of NEPHIHAH
the LAMANITES that were prisoners were desirous to join
unto them it was granted according to their desires
that as many as were desirous, unto them it was granted
as many as were desirous, unto them it was granted
all the prisoners of the LAMANITES did join the people
all the prisoners of the LAMANITES did join
Therefore, all the prisoners of the LAMANITES did join
were relieved from all the prisoners of the LAMANITES
relieved from all the prisoners of the LAMANITES
were relieved from all the prisoners of the LAMANITES
which did strengthen the army of MORONI exceedingly
which did reduce the armies of the LAMANITES
he had obtained possession of the city of NEPHIHAH
after he had obtained possession of the city of NEPHIHAH
they were again frightened and fled before the army of MORONI
MORONI and his army did pursue them from city to city
until they were met by LEHI and TEANCUM
MORONI and his army did pursue them
And the armies of the LAMANITES were all gathered
the LAMANITES were encircled about in the borders by the wilderness
had been the cause of this great and lasting war
had been the cause of this great and lasting war
resolve upon any stratagem in the night-time
this great and lasting war between them and the LAMANITES

which had been the cause of so much war and bloodshed
which had been the cause of so much war
war... which had been the cause
TEANCUM... did go forth into the camp of the LAMANITES
did let himself down over the walls of the city
he did cast a javelin at him, which did pierce him near the heart
they did slay them with a great slaughter; and
they did slay them with a great slaughter; and they
famine, and affliction, for the space of many years
and all manner of iniquity among the people of NEPHI
because of the prayers of the righteous
the exceedingly great length of the war between the NEPHITES
hardened, because of the exceedingly great length of the war
more peace established among the people of NEPHI
he returned to the city of ZARAHEMLA
he returned to the city of ZARAHEMLA; and also HELAMAN Nephi
MORONI yielded up the command of his armies
into the hands of his son, whose name was MORONIHAH
he might spend the remainder of his days in peace
he might spend the remainder of his days in peace
that he might spend the remainder of his days in peace
And MORONI yielded up the command of his armies
because of so many wars and contentions it had become expedient

establish again the church of God, throughout all the land
he had delivered them out of the hands of their enemies
those sacred things which had been delivered
SHIBLON took possession of those sacred things
in the commencement of the thirty and sixth year
to do good continually, to keep the commandments

hundred men, with their wives and their children
by the narrow neck which led into the land northward
and they took their course northward
And we suppose that they were drowned in the depths of the sea
those parts which had been commanded by ALMA
among the children of men throughout all the land
those parts which had been commanded by ALMA
written and sent forth... throughout all the land
all those engravings... were to be kept sacred, and handed down
conferred upon HELAMAN, before the death of SHIBLON
they came down... against the army of MORONIHAH
they were beaten and driven back again to their own lands
they came down with a numerous army to war against the people

And thus ended the account of ALMA, and HELAMAN
And thus ended the account of ALMA, and HELAMAN
HELAMAN, who was the son of HELAMAN
according to the records of HELAMAN, who was the son
and also according to the records of his sons
according to the record of HELAMAN and his sons
the prophecies of many holy prophets, before the coming of Christ
according to the records of HELAMAN, who was the son
and also according to the records of his sons
of the NEPHITES, according to the record of HELAMAN
An account of their conversion
An account of the righteousness of the LAMANITES
Chapter I An account of the NEPHITES. Their wars and contentions
serious difficulty among the people of the NEPHITES
in the commencement of the fortieth year
they did cause three divisions among the people
the people that were desirous that he should be

he... sought to destroy the liberty of the people
and was tried according to the voice of the people
those people who were desirous that he should be their governor
and behold, they sent forth one KISHKUMEN
and they all entered into a covenant, yea, swearing
KISHKUMEN and his band, who had covenanted with him
but as many as were found were condemned unto death
he was in disguise at the time that he murdered PAHORAN
his band... did mingle themselves among the people
KISHKUMEN was not known among the people of NEPHI
did mingle themselves among the people
was appointed, according to the voice of the people
that they might pitch battle against the NEPHITES
led by a man whose name was CORIANTUMR
TUBALOTH, who was the son of AMMORON
with his strength and also with his great wisdom
with his strength and also with his great wisdom
and he did gather together his armies

that they should march down to the land
come into the heart of their lands to attack
come into the heart of their lands to attack
and their march was with such exceedingly great speed that
CORIANTUMR did march forth at the head of his numerous host
upon the inhabitants of the city
their march was with such exceedingly great speed
insomuch that they did take possession of the whole city
CORIANTUMR... did march forth with his whole army into
CORIANTUMR... did march forth with his whole army into the city
pACUMENI, who was the chief judge
the chief judge, did flee before CORIANTUMR
And thus ended the days of PACUMENI
did flee before CORIANTUMR, even to the walls of the city
CORIANTUMR... obtained the possession of the strongest
the NEPHITES had fled before them, and were slain
he was in possession of the city of ZARAHEMLA
And now he did not tarry in the land
for it was his determination to go forth and cut his way
for it was his determination to go forth and cut his way
did march forth with a large army, even towards the city of BOUNTIFUL
And now he did not tarry in the land of ZARAHEMLA
even towards the city of BOUNTIFUL
that he might obtain the north parts of the land
but he did march forth with a large army
strength was in the center of the land
giving them no time to assemble themselves together
and in this manner they did fall upon them
he did march forth, giving them no time to
the number of the NEPHITES who were slain
gave MORONIHAH great advantage over them
of the number of the NEPHITES who were slain
but that they would attack the cities 'round about
durst not come into the center of the land
that they would attack the cities round about

they had come into the center of the land
slaying the people with a great slaughter
and were marching through the most capital parts
the capital city which was the city of ZARAHEMLA
come into the center of the land, and had taken the capital
when MORONIHAHI had discovered this, he immediately sent
But when MORONIHAH had discovered this, he immediately sent forth LEHI
he immediately sent forth LEHI with an army round about
when MORONIHAH had discovered this, he immediately
he immediately sent forth LEHI with an army
they began to retreat back towards the land of ZARAHEMLA
that they began to retreat back towards the land of ZARAHEMLA
they began to retreat back towards the land of ZARAHEMLA
they began to retreat back towards the land of ZARAHEMLA
it became an exceedingly bloody battle
and among the number who were slain
for they were surrounded on every hand by the NEPHITES
CORIANTUMR... he himself was slain
CORIANTUMR... he himself was slain
yield themselves into the hands of the NEPHITES
insomuch that they were in the power of the NEPHITES
CORIANTUMR plunged the LAMANITES into the midst of the
plunged the LAMANITES into the midst of the NEPHITES
should depart out of the land in peace
MORONIHAH took possession of the city of ZARAHEMLA
took possession of the city of ZARAHEMLA
the LAMANITES... should depart out of the land in peace
and caused that the LAMANITES... should depart
began to be a contention again among the people
HELAMAN, who was the son of HELAMAN
upheld by his band, who had entered into a covenant
the leader of the band of KISHKUMEN
therefore he became the leader of the band of KISHKUMEN

that they should be placed in power and authority
placed in power and authority among the people
should be placed in power and authority among the people
those plans which had been laid by this band
made known unto him the object of his desire
to the judgment-seat that he might murder HELAMAN
desiring that he would conduct him to the judgment-seat
it was the object of all those who belonged to his band
had known all the heart of KISHKUMEN
And when the servant of HELAMAN had known all
to the heart, that he fell dead without a groan
And he ran and told HELAMAN all the things
send forth to take this band of robbers and secret murderers
that they might be executed according to the law
that they might be executed according to the law
he feared lest that he should be destroyed
when GADIANTON had found that KISHKUMEN did not
HELAMAN sent forth to take them
the overthrow, yea, almost the entire destruction of the

there was no contention among the people of NEPHI
did cause some little dissensions among the people
And there was no contention among the people
because of the many inhabitants who had before
And now no part of the land was desolate
the greatness of the destruction of the people who had
little timber upon the face of the land
that they began to cover the face of the whole Earth
And the people who were in the land northward did dwell
should spring up upon the face of the land
that they might build many cities
